Life together in early Methodism was sustained through a variety of groups each in their own way aimed to provide spiritual formation for inward life and outward service.
UMsConnected reflects this same commitment through what we are calling Epworth Groups, a contemporary expression of the Methodist Class Meeting. We offer a live group via Zoom, and we help people start a group (or link an existing one) where they live.
Hosted by Rev. Nikki Raye Rice, this group will begin meeting on October 6th at 7:00 pm (ET, USA), and it will meet the first Thursday of each month thereafter.
The monthly meeting will be publicized on this website and also on our Facebook page, including the Zoom link to the meeting.
People are drawn to this option for a variety of reasons: general need, a local church closure or disaffiliation, not living near a UMC congregation, attending school away from your home church, being in the military, moving to a new place, etc.
We have an “Epworth Group Guide” to help you start a new group or bring an existing one into the UMsConnected network. This may be just what you will need to do where you live, either temporarily or for the long haul.
Email Dr. Steve Harper at email@example.com to request it. We want to walk with you if you want to launch an Epworth Group where you live.
